Nga Rangatahi o Te Pihopatanga o Aotearoa News
Manu Karakia Takes
Flight
In
a world leading development, Te Pihopatanga o Aotearoa has authorised
the creation of Manu Karakia, a lay order for rangatahi called to
ministry. Bishop Brown Turei, Te Pihopa o Aotearoa, describes Manu
Karakia as “the most exciting thing I have ever seen for young people in
the Church”.
From Jeremiah to Mary, from Isaiah to David, rangatahi have been
called by God to serve and lead; gifted to be apostles, some prophets,
some evangelists, some pastors and teachers. God has called rangatahi to
be salt for the earth; they are to be light to the world
The Manu Karakia Ministry Order will give Te Pihopatanga o Aotearoa
impact in its ministry to rangatahi. Candidates will be thoroughly
prepared for commissioning through a clear, comprehensive, objective
process
Manu Karakia will possess six Core Ministry Skills to enhance their
ministry: Spiritual Formation and Discipleship; Evangelism and Mission;
Karakia; Mihinaretanga; Safe Practise; and Tikanga.
Ministry Plans will ensure every Manu Karakia can be monitored and
supported to ensure growth of ministry, minister and faith.
In a radical development, Manu Karakia will be able to follow their
calling through electing one of four Ministry Focus areas: Tamariki
Ministry; Rangatahi Ministry; Whanau and Community Ministry; or
Liturgical Ministry.
Manu Karakia will be licensed for 2 years to allow for planning and
focus.
Manu Karakia will be the best supported ministers in the Church
through the provision of training, resources, support and structure
through the Te Māra Rangatahi Ministry School and their Manu Kokiri will
be dedicated to enabling the Manu Karakia in their ministry.
Te Māra are currently finalising the delivery of this exciting new
programme. Te Māra Kaihautū Ven. Hirini Kaa is aiming for the first Manu
Karakia to be commissioned within the next 3 months, with a target of
100 by the end of 2006, stating “The harvest is plentiful, but the
labourers are few; God calls young people, and the Church is finally
supporting them in following this call”.

A site with a sample kauwhau that matches the readings for every Sunday of the

Excellent resource to support the readings for Sunday.
